How to install payment setting in modules/themes in Prestashop

Payment Setting

  • With Prestashop, you can accept your client’s transactions through a variety of payment methods, checks, bank wire, money supply, cash on delivery, and many partner modules such as PayPal, Moneybookers, HiPay, etc.
  • On the “Payment” page, you can find the following sections:
  • List of modules: Basically, on the “Module” page, the “List and Gateways” module list is a shortcut. You can install the module directly from this page.
  • Three “restrictions” categories:
  1. Currency restrictions: Choose your established payment modules to work with the currency to be paid.
  2. Group restrictions: Choose from your established payment modules to work with user groups.
  3. Country restrictions: Choose which of your country’s established payment modules should work.

Installing the payment module

A payment module installation is basically no different from installing a regular module: simply click on the “Install” button, and configure the entire module to do.

You have to pay more attention to the settings and point out your address or bank account. Payment packages are often built by the payment service provider that you first need to keep your account on the server.

Payment Module Restrictions on Currencies

Depending on the payment, the customer’s currency selection is different. Depending on available currencies, you can control the available payment options: PayPal can be used to pay customers any currency, but only those money payments using Moneybookers dollars, for example.

By default, your store’s default currency is only available. If you need more, follow this process:

  1. In the “Localization” menu, on the “Localization” menu, import the box to expand the currency of your interest. For example: US Dollar USA, United Kingdom for UK Pound, etc.On the “Currency” page under the “Localization” menu, you have implemented imported currencies.
  2. If you want to control the Payment module procedure according to the user’s currency, click on the boxes that match the “Save Restrictions”.

Make a note of that currency Restrictions work in dissimilar ways controlling on payment module:

  • Your default setting cannot be changed for some people, such as cash on delivery.
  • You can change any change in currency settings for others like bank wire, payments, Skrill, Ogone and other than their default status, except for customer currency and “Shop default currency”.
  • Then, for other models like Hipay or PayPal, you can make any change in their currency settings, but you can choose between one and only “customer currency” and “shop default currency”.
  • The customer can set up its predefined currency using the drop-down menu at the top of each front office page.
  • You can set the default currency of the store on the “Localization” page under the “Localization” menu.
  • If you change the default currency after the first few products are configured, you will need to reset the price of all these products. Before adding any products, you have to set the default currency once and for all.

Payment Module Restrictions in groups

You can set the choice of available payment methods controlling on the customer groups: A set of customer groups can be accessible to customers by additional payment methods.

For example, you can choose to pay regular customers with paypal, skrill and hipay, while professional bank customers can pay only through bank wire. Depending on the type of customer and your preferences, customers pay only the methods that apply to your results.

Payment module restrictions in countries

You can control the payment options of your client’s country. For example, you can choose to accept all payment options for customers such as France, Spain and Germany, and only bank customers can pay from Italy, UK and Switzerland.

The table lists all known countries: If you do not find one, you can add it using the “Countries” page under the “Localization” menu.

Here again, like currency limits, the available options vary according to the payment module:

  • For some, the only option is your own country.
  • For others, only a set of countries supported by the service: Austria, Belgium, France, etc..
  • All the native payment modules must work with all other countries.
  • Find the country you’re looking for in alphabetical order, select the payment method you like to get from the country or check boxes to choose from. Once your settings are building up, press the “Save Restriction” button, which shows in the table below.

By default, all installed payment methods will be allowed for a shop’s country
