How to Manage Tag Management in Prestashop

Tag Management

The tag aspect helps you connect your products with keywords. Your customers can use easily and quickly use the products they are looking for.

For example, the customer may want to find the MP3 player in your store. In order to find the product related to his search, a “tag to connect” MP3 player “with” iPod Nano “should be a tag.

Products tags are not similar to page tags: they do not have direct impact on search engine jobs.

To work with your search engine, open the “SEO” tab of each product form sheet

You have two ways of setting up this feature.

First Solution: When making a New Product

You can relate multiple tags to your product from the moment you make it in Wcomm, directly in the “Tags” field in the product’s “Information”. Observe the previous chapter of this guide, “Adding Products and Product Categories”.

Second Solution: Managing Tags

The “Tags” page under the “Catalog” menu permits you to make new tags and handle existing tags. Once you have given tags to your products, you will get a very important list of tags. The “Tags” page will help you deal with them all.

To make a new one, tap on “Add New”, and a creation page shown.

This interface permits you to include tags to one or many of your products.

Name: provide your tag a name. It should be small and to the point, so as to actually help you customers find the associated products instead of hindering them.

Language: specify in what language the tag should display on your shop. Wcomm is clever enough not to show keywords in Spanish to customers who choose to observe the French version of the site, for instance

Products: Choose the products from the right column to which you would like to apply the tag. Hold on the Ctrl key on your keyboard in order to choose multiple products at once.

Once you save the page, the named tag will be applied to all the products listed in the list on the right.

To include the same tag for another language, just repeat the operation, only this time, modify the language.

Once the tag saved, you are redirected to the list of tags, where you can edit or delete them, or even remove them using the button at the bottom of the list.

Next to the edit and trash icons, a number indicates how many products the tag uses.

From now on, when your clients make a search query on your site, the results they will receive will also depend on the tags associated with the products.
